I attended Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach,Virginia between 1992 and 1995. I transferred to Virginia Wesleyan College, also in Virginia Beach, from 1995-1997. I returned in 2000 to complete my student teaching and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.
I continued my education at the University of Virginia in the Graduate Professional Studies program between 2009 and 2011 and obtained an endorsement for Gifted Education.
Prior to moving to Texas, I was an educator in the City of Virginia Beach Public Schools for 21 years. I began my career teaching social studies at Bayside Middle School in 2000. In 2009, I moved to the city’s alternative high school program where I taught 11th grade US History and 12th grade Government and later moved into the administrative position of School Improvement Specialist until 2012. After obtaining my endorsement for Gifted Education at UVA, I served as the building specialist and resource teacher for Gifted and Talented Programs at Salem Middle School until 2017. I decided to return to my passion of teaching history in 2017 and taught AP US History at Tallwood High School & Global Studies Academy between 2017 and 2021. I am excited to be part of Harts Bluff Early College High School and look forward to being a part of a fantastic team!
Hello, I am new to both Harts Bluff ISD and Texas! We relocated in 2020 when my husband was proudly named NTCC’s Head Softball Coach. We moved from Newport News, Virginia where we lived for the last 2 years, but spent most of my childhood and adult life living in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Our daughter, Lauren, currently attends East Carolina University. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy watching softball, going to the movies, eating at new restaurants and walking my dog.
